GPS Clocks to Precisely Synchronize Time and Frequency Signals

Paris, June 7, 2012 – Spectracom, a business of the Orolia Group (NYSE Alternext Paris – FR0010501015 – ALORO) and the leading supplier of synchronization for digital broadcast applications, today announced a contract worth nearly 600 k€ from a leading global supplier of broadcast equipment. They will use Spectracom’s GPS Clock synchronization systems for new digital broadcast network infrastructure in Bulgaria.

Synchronization is critical for reliable operation of digital broadcast systems particularly those operating in single frequency mode (SFN). The trend in the industry is to use SFN for digital broadcast since it effectively utilizes the limited availability of radio frequency spectrum. Precisely synchronized time and frequency signals are necessary so digital signals do not interfere with each other to ensure optimum reception by televisions in areas covered by multiple transmitters.

The delivery of Spectracom’s GPS Clocks will be spread throughout the next quarter.
